Election 2009: Congress won or BJP lost?

Election results are out, and as I expected Congress completely overruled BJP, grabbing more than 200 seats. Do not shout that my expectations turned in favor of Congress after the election results, for proof you can ask my friends (with whom I kept fighting why BJP should not come to power!!) or just visit FriendsOfBJP where I posted several issues that were wrong in the BJP’s manifesto but unfortunately they were so confident about their views that they(supporters of BJP) kicked me out from the site (and calling me a christian, a fool, etc. )

I would like to clarify that I am not in favor of any political party, but when I have to choose I will never choose BJP over Congress for the following reasons (I am again enumerating them here not to tease the BJP supporters over their loss but so that they can improve for next elections rather than blaming media for bad publicity or congress for enjoying privileges):

  1. Hindutava : The BJP lost completely in Delhi and Mumbai, did they consider the reason? Both of these cities are fast growing cities and do not believe in cheap politics over religion which BJP play. This is what that not only I am saying, these are the views of BJP supporters who openly claims the following: “If you want a Hindu country, choose BJP”, “Accept it nitin, Hindutava is in the manifesto of BJP”, etc. If BJP wants to win the hearts of the modern India, it has to come over this region/religion/caste politics (I don’t claim that Congress is clean over this issue but at least they don’t claim to build that ram mandir, so please do not fight!!). Come over it, India doesn’t need to convert into “Hindus-tan”, don’t claim yourself to be secular when you are actually not.
  2. Moral Policing: Recently, there have been several cases of Moral policing in various states ( eg. Ram Sena in Karnataka, Bajrang Dal in Rajasthan, and various other religious outfits that claim themselves to be “samaj sudharak” of India), I do not want to specify but everyone knows who ruled these stated till this election. This is an open question to all the political parties, “Why are these religious outfits not declared as terrorist groups when what they do is not less than jihad?” Why they have so much problem with “valentine day”,”new year”, and other christian festivals? Why do the government enables them?
  3. Development: This is one point over which BJP supporters shout a lot. I agree that India progressed a lot faster under the regime of Atal Bihari Vajpayee but I do not see any point living in a developed country where my child can not go out without his religion certificate. I dream of a country, where my family is able to roam freely in every street of India without any fear of being killed. Whether the country has 10 bridges or 50, I don’t care!! Also, I can live under the fear of external attacks but not by my own fellow countrymen.
  4. Leader: L. K. Advani is not a person, whom I would like to sit on the honorable seat of Prime Minister. Under the leadership of A. B. Vajpayee things were quite different but Advani can never replace him. Why?? Let us see, this is how his introduction goes in the BJP manifesto ” He led the Ayodhya movement, the biggest mass movement in India since Independence..” . Do I need to say more?

I do not say that Congress/UPA is the ultimate political party available, but I have no other choice. This is not really a win for UPA but a shameful defeat for BJP. If they still continue to blame media/Congress for their defeat, they are not going to land on moon but getting into a perish state.

Notes:

  1.  I wanted to talk about the congress too but it makes no sense now (after their tremendous win).
  2. Do not waste your time abusing me, after all this is my website. (it takes just a second to delete your comment.) Healthy discussion is always encouraged on Public Mind.

Nothing wrong in calling you a christian in the hindu name. I have seen people with hindu name and abusing hindus and thier religion but if you check them you will find them going to churches listening to hate speeches. every person in this country know what priests preach in churches, and schools run by them, yet you accuse us for violence. you cannot find a soceity tolerant than this.
